St. Louis ranks as one of the worst areas in the country for infant mortality, and Black babies are three times more likely to die than White babies. Parts of St. Louis have worse infant death rates than developing countries, and one in three Black women in the city of St. Louis receives inadequate prenatal care because of community barriers. Many of us know these stats, but still struggle to convey them to our family, friends and colleagues.
We’ve created a video to help tell the complex story of infant mortality in our region, and what we’re doing to address the problem. Please feel free to share this within your own organizations to help others understand this issue, so we can work together to create change.
