Zero Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality by 2033

Two of FLOURISH’s key priorities are prenatal care and behavioral health interventions. Enhanced CenteringPregnancy (ECP) is a program that addresses both of these critical areas, while also working to overcome racial inequities in prenatal care.

Enhanced CenteringPregnancy’s (ECP) multi-disciplinary, multi-institution and community- driven collaborative integrates behavioral health and medical services to combat trauma and toxic stress. CenteringPregnancy features prenatal care visits with a provider and health care staff, and group support where moms can have discussions on medical topics, such as pregnancy, newborn care, and labor and delivery. ECP is enhancing CenteringPregnancy to also include discussions about stress, self-care, resiliency, reproductive justice, and to increase coping skills to use during pregnancy and beyond. The program also bridges trauma-informed care and racial equity to give Black moms and babies more equitable care.

Through this video, ECP community advisors demonstrate the power of their voice and help the medical professionals, community organizations and policy makers understand the positive impact this program can have on moms and babies.
