In May, FLOURISH welcomed a new cohort of the Community Leaders Cabinet (CLC), as members of the inaugural CLC transitioned into FLOURISH Fellows and FLOURISH Champion roles to work within the FLOURISH community. This new cohort draws upon 22 of FLOURISH’s high-impact zip codes and is made up of dynamic individuals, including parents, grandparents, doulas, community health workers, educators, leaders of missioned-aligned organizations, community activists, and other community stakeholders. Five of FLOURISH’s grant-funded partners have joined the new cohort – an exciting indication that FLOURISH’s network is strengthening, as partners are now stepping into decision-making roles.
In their first month, the new cohort attended two orientation sessions, where they were able to connect with each other, meet Generate Health staff, and receive guidance from CLC - Cohort 1. They also participated in two intensive sessions modeled after Community Organizing and Family Issues (COFI) trainings, which included topics on how to become powerful change agents in their communities by creating a vision and goals for self, family, and community. The sessions were led by members of the inaugural cohort of the CLC, which facilitated deeper peer-to-peer connections and learning opportunities.
