Zero Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality by 2033

FLOURISH Funding Opportunities

FLOURISH grants support community leaders and programs that reduce infant mortality.

FLOURISH St. Louis’ collective impact approach relies on the whole community to play a part in solving our infant mortality crisis.

FLOURISH grants are unique in that the community most impacted by racial disparities in infant mortality determines how this funding is allocated. We invest funds in programs that help close the gap between Black and white infant mortality in St. Louis.

Community Mobilization and Innovation Funds: Part of moving to a community-led model is empowering the community to take action in addressing opportunities in their own neighborhoods. This bucket of funding is reserved for residents and neighborhood organizations who want to implement solutions to promote maternal and infant vitality, provide social support and healing, and build community. Aligned Activities for Priority Areas: This grant category was for projects that align with FLOURISH’s priorities and racial equity approach to promote policy and systems change. These priority areas were determined by the FLOURISH Community Leaders Cabinet, a body of more than 30 community members with lived experience representing high impact zip codes. Grant funding was distributed in spring 2021 in the following priority areas: Coordinated Quality Care, Safe Sleep, and Social Determinants of Health (Housing and Transportation). CapacityBuilding in Racial Equity: Organizations in St. Louis are at varying levels in their understanding and application of racial equity. FLOURISH’s Community Leaders Cabinet is deciding how to spend funds dedicated to this purpose and their decisions will be shared here.
