Despite being home to some of the best health care in the nation, premature birth, low birth weight, birth defect complications and accidental injuries are among the most common causes of Black infant deaths. Racial inequity is at the center of St. Louis’ infant mortality crisis regardless of one’s genetics, education and/or socio-economic status.
